We are now looking for a career and study counselor for a shared position between Vålbergsskolan (60%) and Norrstrandsskolan (40%), where you will have the opportunity to work closely with students and school staff in an important and meaningful assignment.
As a career and study counselor, you are responsible for supporting and guiding students in their choices regarding studies and future professional life. You work both strategically and operationally with study and career guidance, individually and in groups, and contribute to the schools' overall work on future choices, equality and motivation.

Job responsibilities
The assignment includes providing individual study and career guidance to students, group guidance and information sessions also occur. An important part of the work is to open up working life for young people and make visible the many different paths that exist to achieve their dreams - while conveying that it is completely okay not to have a clear professional dream yet.
You work with a coaching approach where curiosity about the student's thoughts, interests and possibilities is at the center. In close collaboration with teachers, student health, our internal networks within Karlstad Municipality and external actors, you contribute to creating good conditions for students' future choices. The assignment also includes support for guardians in matters relating to the choice of studies, work with study and career guidance efforts integrated into teaching and administrative tasks linked to guidance and choices.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is a trained study and career guidance counselor and who has experience of guidance, preferably to young people. You have good knowledge of regulations regarding admission and eligibility for upper secondary school. You have good administrative skills and good IT skills. You are used to working digitally and have an interest in developing and using new digital working methods.
We are looking for someone who is flexible and can easily adapt to different contexts and students' needs. You have good social skills and a strong ability to collaborate, while at the same time being confident in working independently. Through your relationship-building approach, you create trusting meetings with students, guardians and colleagues.
You have pedagogical insight and can guide, inform and coach students in their study and career choices in a clear and responsive way. The role also requires leadership skills and good judgment, where you can make well-founded assessments based on both the individual's and the organization's conditions. You are structured, analytical and have good intellectual skills, which allows you to handle complex information and contribute to well-thought-out guidance efforts.
