Children's and Youth Librarian

Are you our new children's and youth librarian?
Stad municipality has a 100% permanent position available starting in the fall of 2026.
We are looking for someone who is a committed and development-oriented facilitator, and who is passionate about creating a love of reading and reading joy among children and young people!
Stad library consists of the main library in Nordfjordeid, a branch in Selje and a branch in Leikanger, and we work actively with the primary schools in the municipality in the focus on school libraries and a love of reading.

Job duties
As a librarian at Stad library, you are part of a team that will together develop the library services in Stad municipality, fulfill the requirements of the Library Act and create a joy of reading and good meeting places.
You are involved in the daily operation of the library and the library services, including desk shifts, public work and literature dissemination
You have a special responsibility for dissemination and collection development aimed at children and young people 0-19 years old, both in and outside the library
You will have a central role in Stad Municipality's focus on school libraries, as a guide and resource person, in close collaboration with the school sector
You visit schools, school libraries and kindergartens regularly
You work to create a love of reading and the joy of reading through dissemination, events and exhibitions
You contribute to making the library a safe and good meeting place
You disseminate both orally and in writing, physically and digitally
Stad Library is a dynamic arena, and other work tasks may arise as needed
### Qualifications
## Education:
Bachelor in library and information science, or equivalent relevant education, for example within literature, language and pedagogy
### Experience and knowledge:
Good knowledge of and interest in children's and young adult literature
Good communication skills, both oral and written, physical and digital
### Experience from library and/or communication work is an advantage
You must have good knowledge of Norwegian, both oral and written
### Experience with event management is an advantage
### Experience with social media and marketing is an advantage
You must have good IT skills
You must have a class B driver's license

You work independently, solution-oriented and have good execution skills
You have good oral and written communication skills
You can plan and organize work effectively
