Job Description

About us
The Unit for Special Educational Assistance for Children of Compulsory Education consists of skilled workers, educators, special educators and speech therapists, who work in municipal/private kindergartens and homes in Indre Østfold municipality. We are currently employed in the Unit for Special Educational Assistance, and are affiliated with kindergartens divided into zones in Indre Østfold municipality. The sections Kindergarten, NAV, School and Life Skills make up the municipal area of Growing Up.
The slogan of the growing up area is "I have faith in you. I have time for you. Together we create opportunities", and is governed by the values: courage, generosity, equality and trust.
The kindergarten section consists of 14 municipal kindergartens distributed in all towns and urban areas in our municipality. In addition, the "Unit for Special Educational Assistance" is in the municipality's 17 private kindergartens.

Are you our new colleague? 
We have two permanent 100% permanent positions available from August 1, 2026, or as soon as possible.
As a special education teacher/kindergarten teacher with us, you will provide correct and good special educational help to children with special needs in kindergarten age. You will assist kindergartens and homes in their work, as well as guide and support caregivers around the individual child and group. Furthermore, you will contribute to ensuring that general education and special education work are seen in context. This is to contribute to inclusion for all children, and work closely with the staff in the kindergartens to create an environment for inclusion, care, independence, development and learning.
What do we do with us?
With us, you will work, among other things,
to provide children in kindergarten with special educational assistance in accordance with the Kindergarten Act
to supervise and collaborate closely with guardians, kindergarten staff and other support services
to plan, implement and document in accordance with plans
to help children with disabilities benefit from kindergarten services
to supervise and assist kindergartens and homes in line with plans, decisions and other frameworks
Other tasks can be added to the position as needed.

Competence and experience
You must have
a bachelor's degree in kindergarten teacher training or special education. Other relevant 3-year university education may be considered
minimum 30 credits in special education
you must document a Norwegian language level of B2 level or the Bergen Test, according to the Kindergarten Act § 28
you must have experience from interdisciplinary collaboration
driving license class B
It is desirable that you have
experience with alternative supplementary communication and competence in sign-to-speech
experience from working with children in kindergartens with disabilities, and with special education work
Candidates without 30 credits in special education may be considered subject to the condition that further education is agreed, completed and approved by the agreed time. If you have foreign professional qualifications, these must be approved and documented by the Directorate for Higher Education and the Directorate of Education.
