Legal Counsel (m/f/d) in Procurement
We are seeking a Legal Counsel (m/f/d) for our Procurement department in Bonn, starting August 1, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter. This is a three-year fixed-term contract.
The position is classified under pay group V (Administrative Assistant). Salary will be determined according to the DW collective bargaining agreement: What we pay: Our salaries at a glance (https://corporate.dw.com/de/gehaltstabellen/a-The Procurement and Travel department handles procurement for Deutsche Welle and advises its various departments. This work is carried out in teams that cover both IT and non-IT areas. Furthermore, purchase requisitions are handled separately by another team and represent the operational part of procurement.
Your responsibilities:
- Advise employees in the Procurement and Travel department and specialist departments on procurement and contract law issues
- Support legal procurement procedures and other procurement-related engagements
- Clarify contract disputes, develop solutions, and conduct the corresponding negotiations
- Participate in or lead negotiations within the framework of procurement procedures
- Assist in the introduction and establishment of contract management and procurement controlling
- Willingness to take on further exciting tasks within the framework of strategically managed procurement, e.g., in the area of AI
- Conduct in-house legal training on procurement-related topics
- Monitor relevant case law for the department and DW and derive potential consequences for DW
- Prepare decision-making documents
Your qualifications:
- Completed law degree (business lawyer, fully qualified lawyer, or equivalent)
- Sound knowledge of procurement controlling
- Interest in conceptual and strategic work
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, as well as a confident and empathetic demeanor
- Independent and meticulous work style, as well as the ability to summarize complex issues clearly and communicate effectively
- Negotiation skills and enjoyment of working in an international and intercultural environment
- Interest in new technologies and their application in the legal field
- High level of intercultural competence
- Excellent German skills (at least C1 level) and good English skills (knowledge of legal terminology in English; at least B1 level)
