Job Description

Flå School and Kindergarten has a vacant 100% permanent position as a subject manager in the school from October 1, 2026. We are looking for someone who is ready for new challenges and who wants to take part in a competent and committed environment. Subject managers in the school are part of a management team together with the kindergarten board, after-school care manager and unit manager/principal. The subject manager shall facilitate quality in teaching and learning in the school. Furthermore, the subject manager shall work with the daily administrative operation of the school.
Flå School and Kindergarten is a childcare center that consists of a kindergarten, school and after-school care. In total, there are 45 employees at the childcare center, of which 16 work in the school. Our core values are based on us adults exercising care, recognition and demonstrating development-supportive behavior. This is based on the fact that we want children to develop empathy, independence and robustness.
We have beautiful natural areas that provide good opportunities for play, learning and leisure activities. Flå school and kindergarten have a close collaboration with other actors in the local community, including a unique collaboration with Øver Bortn farm. Job responsibilities
For subject leaders in schools, it is particularly important to maintain the best of the current school culture, and further develop it to meet the challenges of a constantly changing society. This places great demands on subject leaders both professionally and relationally, so that a common practice, basic vision and culture are established. Personal suitability will be emphasized.  
The subject manager will be the unit manager/principal's deputy 
The subject manager will have a central role in the school's development work  
The subject manager will, together with the unit manager/principal, be responsible for following up on the school environment work 
The subject manager will help plan analysis work related to academic and social mapping 
Teaching will be added to approximately half of the position, corresponding to approximately 50% of the position  
The subject manager has the main responsibility for scheduling and substitute work 
Professional follow-up and supervision of teachers and environmental workers 
Additional tasks related to the position will be clarified with the unit manager/principal 
Work and responsibilities will be the subject of discussion at all times, and the person appointed must therefore be willing to participate in the change processes that are necessary to have appropriate management of the school.
Qualifications
Approved teacher education with experience from primary school
Good command of Norwegian in writing and speaking
Desired qualifications
You have post-secondary education in management and/or leadership experience from school
You have good competence in the use of ICT in schools, both in daily operations and development work for employees and students. Experience in using Office 365 is desirable.
You have experience in following up on school environment issues
You have experience in running swimming lessons for children
You have knowledge of legislation and agreements related to the school sector
Personal qualities
You are loyal and responsible
You are able to carry out projects and clearly defined tasks
You are able to work in a structured and systematic manner so that the school employees can do a good job
You have good leadership skills
You are reflective, ambitious and innovative in terms of being a driving force in educational renewal and development
You have good communication skills and the ability to inspire and motivate employees and students
You collaborate well with parents
You are independent and flexible with good work capacity
 
Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
A valid police certificate in accordance with §15 of the Education Act must be presented before joining.
