Job Description

**Digital Development Staff Member – Kazerne Dossin**

Kazerne Dossin is a Memorial, Museum, and Research Center on the Holocaust and Human Rights. Since its opening in 2012, it has grown into a leading European museum that sets benchmarks in its field.

You will help shape our digital future. With your expertise, you will contribute to building a digital infrastructure that deepens our research, makes our collections accessible, engages the public, and supports colleagues in their daily work.

Your first major task is the creation of a personal database that forms the foundation for further digital accessibility. This environment will support research projects, archive management, digital collections, educational programs, and public-facing applications. You will work from open-source principles, ensuring sustainable internal performance and alignment with international standards and collaborations.

Additionally, you will develop a digital roadmap, manage technical architecture, and guide colleagues in the use of new technologies. You will support projects in archive management, education, public engagement, exhibition development, and research. Furthermore, you will take an inspiring role in exploring and applying artificial intelligence, data-driven solutions, and other innovations. You will work within the Management and Staff team.

Kazerne Dossin believes diversity strengthens an organization and encourages candidates from all backgrounds to apply.

**Responsibilities:**

* Design and manage the organization’s digital infrastructure (servers, databases, applications, integrations).
* Build a strategic framework for digital innovation and support management in technology decisions.
* Advise and guide colleagues on digital projects in education, public engagement, research, presentation, and archive management.
* Develop and document technical workflows and standards to ensure sustainable digital collaboration.
* Collaborate actively with (inter)national partners in Digital Humanities, cultural heritage, and research infrastructures.
* Ensure a secure, well-maintained, and future-oriented ICT environment, monitoring quality, continuity, and scalability.

**Requirements:**

**Essential:**

* Master’s degree in computer science, information systems, digital humanities, or equivalent experience.
* Strong software expertise with excellent mastery of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
* Solid knowledge of database management (SQL) and communication (JSON, REST).
* Familiarity with Linux environments, server management, and cloud or virtualization solutions.
* Excellent Dutch and English communication skills, both oral and written.
* Experience guiding technical projects or advising teams in complex organizations.

**Optional:**

* Expertise in metadata standards within GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, Museums).
* Knowledge of Semantic Web technologies (RDF, SHACL, SPARQL, etc.).
* Experience with Scala, Python, and/or Rust.
* Experience with architecture management, information security, or strategic ICT planning.
* Affinity with research and science communication.

**Personal qualities:**

* Clear communicator, bridge-builder between technical and non-technical profiles.
* Systems thinker with attention to continuity, scalability, and user experience.
* Proactive, meticulous, and decisive.
* Comfortable working in a values-driven organization with a societal mission.
