Job Description

**Scope of Responsibilities:**

* Planning the content and layout of texts in the essay section of the monthly magazine *Odra*.
* Planning publishing cycles and thematic/monographic issues.
* Communicating and negotiating with authors.
* Editing and preliminary proofreading of texts.
* Preparing own texts: articles, interviews, and reviews.
* Sourcing illustrations for texts.
* Participating in events related to current cultural life.
* Collaborating with media for magazine promotion.
* Cooperating with other editorial departments and the Book Institute.
* Continuously improving knowledge and skills related to assigned tasks and responsibilities.
* Managing and archiving work-related documentation on an ongoing basis.

**Employment Details:**

* Fixed-term contract: 6 months, with possibility of extension.
* Working hours: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM.
* Part-time: 50% FTE.

**Requirements:**

* Education: secondary education – required; higher education (including bachelor’s degree) – a plus.
* Skills: independence – required; communication and teamwork – required; proficient computer skills, including MS Office – required.
* Languages: English – B2 level (upper-intermediate) in speaking and writing – required.
* Other: good knowledge of the book and publishing market; familiarity with cultural and socio-cultural magazines; experience and orientation in liaising with authors from literary, academic, and journalistic fields; confirmed experience with DTP programs through publications; knowledge of copyright law necessary for negotiating contracts and interacting with authors; proficient computer skills.
