Hallingdal parish is looking for a committed chaplain who will work with children and young people in the churches in the municipalities of Hol and Ål.  We want a welcoming and inclusive priest who can both make the church visible in the local environment, strengthen worship life, support volunteering and help further develop the initiatives in children's and youth work.  We are looking for someone who wants to take responsibility for further developing and leading the confirmation work in collaboration with the local staff.

Hol and Ål municipalities are located along the Bergen Railway, midway between Oslo and Bergen, with magnificent nature. Each municipality has approx. 4,500 inhabitants, and a rich cultural life. Geilo has been named "Norway's Best Ski Resort" for the 7th time in a row, and both municipalities offer active sports and outdoor life all year round. The municipalities have very good service offerings, and good cooperation with voluntary teams and organisations.

Church services and holidays are shared between the two vicars and the chaplain, and there is a nice variety in liturgical expressions. Support for church activities and religious education is good. The church has a wide range of services from baby singing to young adults, and there is good cooperation with nurseries and schools. SuperThursday for families with children on Ål has become a successful venture, and similar Wednesday gatherings in Geilo cultural church are being established. It is desirable that the chaplain contributes to this work, while at the same time there are good opportunities to develop own initiatives.

Hol municipality: Geilo cultural church is the heart of parish work, culture and concerts in Hol. The church square and the art gallery here are run on a voluntary basis. The church's thrift store ensures good finances and has an important diaconal function. The churches in Hol, Hovet, Skurdalen and Dagali are used regularly, while Hol old church is only in use in the summer. Hol has a stable staff, where the chaplain will be included together with a vicar, deacon, faith teacher, two church musicians, two secretaries, church servants and church guardian.

Ål municipality: Ål church is in the center of Ål and there are also churches in Leveld, Vats and Torpo. The staff in Ål church joint council consists of vicar, church warden, secretary, organist, church musicians, parish pedagogue, deacon, church servants and cleaner. The provost in Hallingdal also has an office in Ål. 
The chaplain becomes part of the Hallingdal parish, which consists of seven priests and a parish priest who meet monthly. In the parish there is collaboration across parish boundaries, and an annual confirmation festival is organized together. Facilitation is made to develop as a priest together with colleagues in local professional associations and further and further education is encouraged.

Geilo cultural church will be a permanent office - a modern working church consecrated in 2010, with the aim of being "Sailor's church on the mountain". The parishes are typical folk church congregations with a wide contact area with all parts of the population. Our tourists take an active part in church life, and many choose baptisms and weddings in our churches.

Participate in the current contingency plan in Tunsberg diocese.

Qualifications
Cand.theol. with internship or equivalent
Membership in the Church of Norway
The target form in Hol municipality is Bokmål and in Ål municipality it is Nynorsk, applicants must state whether they are proficient in both target forms
Tunsberg diocese requires a police certificate (child care certificate) which must be presented upon appointment
Driving license class B and access to a car
Personal characteristics
Good communicator
Have the ability to lead, inspire and motivate
Ability and willingness to cooperate with volunteers and colleagues
Interest in and experience from working with children and young people
Clear presence in the local community
Contribute to the prostitution community
Enjoy doing versatile and varied clerical work

You can be new to the service or experienced - the most important thing is that you have a warm commitment and desire to grow

Placement in position code 0922 Chaplain according to KA's tariff area
Pension scheme in KLP
Travel expenses reimbursed according to current regulations
Special regulatory allowances are added to the salary
Tunsberg diocese offers its employees work guidance (ABV), and it is expected that
the person who is appointed is motivated to take part in guidance
