Your working day as an assistant university lecturer
You will teach on all our programs at bachelor's, advanced and research level. We have programs with a focus on IT security, web development, systems science, system development, testing and graphic design. At advanced level, education is conducted with a focus on Business Intelligence and Data Science. We also have postgraduate training and research that takes place within Computer Science. You will be able to carry out research focused on Computer Science, including the development of methods and tools for decision support systems, in various areas of activity, such as transport, trade, health, climate, etc. You, as an assistant lecturer, will be given the opportunity to develop your independence as a researcher and merit both scientifically and pedagogically in order to meet eligibility for employment as a university lecturer.

Are you the person we are looking for?
According to the Higher Education Ordinance, a person who has completed a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence is qualified as an assistant lecturer. Primarily, it should come into question who has completed a doctoral degree or has achieved equivalent competence no more than five years before the time for applying for the position as assistant lecturer has expired. However, even those who have completed a doctorate or have achieved equivalent competence in the past may be considered if there are special reasons, such as leave due to illness, parental leave or other similar circumstances.

You must have ambitions to both develop yourself and our research and education environment. You will work with teaching and supervision at postgraduate, advanced and basic level within one or more of the courses in the department. As an assistant university lecturer, you are expected to participate in research projects as well as initiate, lead and implement them. You are also expected to be able to act as a co-supervisor for one of our PhD students. Assignments of an administrative nature may occur. Furthermore, you are expected to actively participate in applications for financial research resources that benefit the department. We are looking for you who independently have the ability to plan, implement, supervise, teach and examine courses in System Science, IT security and software testing, Graphic design and web development, Business Intelligence, Data Science and postgraduate training.

This position requires:
-completed doctoral degree in computer science/system science subject.
-good communication skills in both Swedish and English both verbally and in writing. 

It is advantageous if you:
- has supervised at all levels from bachelor's to master's level
- has participated in or rather assisted in the management of externally funded research projects in relation to industrial partners

When assessing the pedagogical skills, special emphasis must be placed on:
- Experience of teaching at different levels
- Experience of supervision of theses
- Demonstrated pedagogical skill through various efforts in education, such as planning, implementation (teaching and examination) and evaluation that contributed to the development of educational activities
- Other pedagogical qualifications such as pedagogical development projects, teaching material production, etc.

When assessing the scientific skill, special emphasis must be placed on:
- Breadth and depth in research
- The relevance of the research output in relation to the employment profile
- Independence and ability to innovate as a researcher
- The scope of the research shown through nationally and/or internationally published works.
- Been an applicant and/or co-applicant in national and/or international calls for research grants

As we attach great importance to pedagogical skills, the applicant who does not already have a qualifying university teaching education is expected to acquire this competence within two years from the start of employment.  
For the role of assistant university lecturer, you are required to have good collaboration skills, initiative and a high degree of responsibility.

The employment
The employment is time-limited, 4 years, with the support of the Higher Education Ordinance. The scope is 100%. Högskolan Dalarna is a university that operates in two locations. Location for this employment is Borlänge. The employment may be renewed, but for a maximum of two years in total, if due to sickness absence, parental leave or other special reasons additional time is required to achieve the purpose of the employment. In cases where the recruitment process takes time, a substitute may be employed during the appointment.
