Welcome to the municipal management office. Here you work together with employees in the departments for communication, HR, IT, finance, procurement and real estate as well as the departments quality and planning, sustainability, safety, security and preparedness, as well as the office. The municipal management office also houses the organizations for business and destination as well as joint service. The municipal management office is the link between the decisions of our elected officials and all of the municipality's activities. Our mission is, among other things, to coordinate and drive overall issues within democracy, community and business development as well as ecological and social sustainability.

For this role as HR specialist in labor law, we are looking for you with good general knowledge in the field of labor law. You get an important and exciting assignment where you constantly learn new things and develop in your professional role with us in Uppsala municipality. You will belong to the employer unit within the HR department.

We have our workplace in the city hall, which is a stone's throw from Uppsala central station. In order to offer flexibility, the possibility of flexible working hours and partial working remotely is given.

The unit's mission is to ensure that the municipality is given the conditions to comply with laws, agreements and governing documents in areas such as labor law, wage formation and work environment. We interpret and apply laws and agreements, produce governing documents, lead local negotiations, resolve disputes, monitor central collective agreement issues and offer training efforts. The unit actively participates in development work and collaboration within the municipal management office and other operations and works strategically at a central level to create a legally secure and sustainable employer policy. You will be part of a competent team of specialists in labor law and report directly to the head of negotiations.

Your assignment

As a specialist in labor law, you get a dynamic and important role where you work with an employer's perspective and offer qualified advice in labor law, mainly to other employees in the HR department. You are given the opportunity to work on various assignments and provide support in a wide range of issues within the field of labor law, such as issues regarding working hours, leave, starting and ending employment as well as issues relating to rights and obligations during the employment period. You will also provide advice and support in personnel matters, including misconduct.

You will collaborate with other HR specialists to develop and improve working methods in areas where labor law issues play a central role. This is an opportunity for you who want to contribute to a successful and legally secure employer policy within the municipality of Uppsala.

Your background

To thrive in the role, we are looking for you who have a degree from a relevant university education and very good knowledge of employment law. For this position, you also need to have experience in negotiation and have worked in municipal or regional operations. You must also have good knowledge of collective labor law.

To be successful in the role, we are looking for you who are good at seeing context and solving complex questions and problems. You weigh complex information and different types of considerations and show judgment in statements, actions and decisions. Furthermore, you are a communicative and coaching person who finds it easy to listen and adapt your way of communicating. It is important that you are clear and ensure that your message gets across in the right way.

We also see that you are analytically inclined and can translate legal and contractual text into practical activities, while at the same time you have a strong sense of consequences. You see collaboration as a way to increase value between colleagues, but also for the organization as a whole. Finally, you have the ability to be calm and collected in different situations and have the ability to focus on the right things.
