Job Description

Purpose of the position

We are looking for reinforcement for our Woluwe home support service, specifically for our target group of deaf and hearing-impaired adults.

As a home counselor, you support deaf and hearing-impaired adults to increase their independence, communication capabilities and quality of life. You work in their home situation or in their environment, with respect for their needs, pace and context.

What are your duties?

You guide deaf and hearing-impaired adults in their home environment.
You encourage their self-reliance in daily life.
You support deaf and hearing-impaired adults in their communicative, social and emotional well-being.
You provide psychoeducation to the client and his environment.
You adapt your communication to the client's preference (written messages, pictograms, visual aids, etc.).
You identify additional support needs and collaborate with other specialized services.
You build a relationship of trust with your clients and support them in a respectful and demand-oriented manner.
You carry out intakes and map out the client's initial situation.
You draw up an action plan together with the client (and possibly his network) and monitor its follow-up.
You coordinate the guidance from A to Z and monitor the overview, even when multiple care providers are involved.
You carefully document your guidance via reports and follow-up forms.
You consult and collaborate with your colleagues and other care providers.
You have a bachelor's or master's degree in educational psychologist or psychologist.
You share our passion and want to work with deaf and hearing-impaired adults.
You have a driving license B and can use a car for business travel.
You can start as soon as possible.
You are patient.
You stand firm on your feet and are not easily discouraged.
You act from a warm and empathetic contact, without going beyond your professional boundaries.
You learn quickly.
You can work independently and opt for open communication in a team.
You continue to creatively search for solutions tailored to each client.
You write fluently in Dutch and speak Flemish Sign Language. Your knowledge of French and/or English is a plus.
Your experience in home guidance and/or with the target group of deaf and hearing-impaired adults is a big plus.
You offer guidance to clients mainly in the East Flemish Brabant region.
