**Senior Data Engineer**

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be part of the data team responsible for implementing a common data platform for a client who is a key player in social security, covering the domains of unemployment, career breaks, and time credit.

You combine an analytical approach with technical expertise to design, build, and maintain transformation pipelines. You are actively involved in the ingestion phase of the data lifecycle—from various source systems to the Data Platform, which uses a medallion architecture—and in processing data within the first two zones of the lakehouse.

Together with the data analytics engineers in the team, you ensure orchestration so that data is accurate, accessible, and aligned with the organization's needs.

You work in a pragmatic and Agile manner.

**Your responsibilities?**

- Develop layered transformation logic using **dbt**, focusing on maintainability, performance, and cost efficiency
- Configure source-to-target mapping to transform raw data into Data Vault components (including hubs, links, satellites, and PIT tables)
- Automatically generate Data Vault structures using **VaultSpeed**
- Set up orchestration of data workflows with **Dagster** to ensure reliable and timely delivery
- Perform necessary validation tests to ensure dataset quality and usability
- Troubleshoot issues and performance bottlenecks to optimize data pipelines
- Collaborate using **Git** and **CI/CD pipelines** for version control and continuous integration

You hold a Master’s degree or can demonstrate an equivalent level through relevant experience.

You are an expert in **SQL** and **dbt**, and possess in-depth knowledge of ETL/ELT methodologies and **Data Vault**.

Additionally, you have extensive experience building and managing data pipelines using tools such as **Airbyte**, **Dagster**, **Databricks**, and **Python**.

Version control via **Git** and working within **CI/CD environments** are familiar to you, enabling you to work in a structured and quality-driven manner.

Knowledge of **dimensional modeling (Kimball)** and **VaultSpeed** is considered a valuable plus, though not strictly required.

Furthermore, you have a basic understanding of **Power BI**, which allows you to collaborate effectively with BI teams and understand reporting requirements.

You can work autonomously and efficiently while also having an eye for teamwork.

You communicate fluently, can exchange ideas effectively, and value collaboration.

You have an **excellent command of Dutch**, both spoken and written. Additionally, you possess a **passive knowledge of French** and a **good command of English**.
