**Data Engineer**

As a Data Engineer, you will be part of the data team responsible for implementing a common data platform for a key client in social security, covering unemployment, career breaks, and time‑credit domains.
You will combine an analytical approach with technical expertise to design, build, and maintain transformation pipelines. You will be actively involved in the ingestion phase of the data lifecycle—from various source systems to the Data Platform, which follows the medallion architecture—and in processing data in the first two zones of the lakehouse.
Together with the data analytics engineers in the team, you will handle orchestration so that data is accurate, accessible, and aligned with the organization’s needs.
You will work in a pragmatic, Agile manner.

**Your responsibilities?**

- Develop layered transformation logic using DBT, focusing on maintainability, performance, and cost efficiency
- Configure source‑to‑target mapping to transform raw data into Data Vault components (including hubs, links, satellites, and PIT tables)
- Automatically generate Data Vault structures with Vaultspeed
- Set up orchestration of data workflows with Dagster for reliable and timely delivery
- Perform necessary validation tests to ensure data quality and usability
- Troubleshoot issues and performance bottlenecks to optimize data pipelines
- Collaborate via GIT and CI/CD pipelines for version control and continuous integration

**Your profile**

- You hold a Master’s degree or can demonstrate an equivalent level through relevant experience.
- You have advanced knowledge of SQL, DBT, Python, GIT, and CI/CD, enabling you to set up structured, high‑quality, and reproducible data processes.
- You have a basic knowledge of Airbyte, Dagster, Databricks, and Data Vault, allowing you to integrate smoothly into our data infrastructure and develop it further with guidance from experienced colleagues.
- You also have general basic knowledge of Power BI, which supports collaboration with BI and analytics teams.
- Knowledge of dimensional modelling (Kimball) is considered a plus and helps you design effective data models that meet business needs.
- You can work autonomously and efficiently while also having an eye for teamwork.
- You are responsible, flexible, and proactive in a dynamic work environment.
- You communicate fluently, can exchange ideas, and value consultation.
- You have excellent command of Dutch, both spoken and written. In addition, you have a passive knowledge of French and a good command of English.
