Job Description

About the department
The Department for Indigenous Peoples and National Minorities is tasked with formulating and following up on the government's policy towards the Sami and national minorities (Jews, Kvens/Norwegian Finns, Romani people/Taters, Roma and Forest Finns). The department coordinates the work in these areas across the ministerial community, and provides advice and guidance to other ministries. This includes, among other things, the involvement of the various minorities and consultations on Sami matters. The department consists of 16 employees, who are mainly lawyers and social scientists.
About the position
Key tasks will be:
State budget matters and internal financial management
Administrative management of the Sami Parliament and the International Reindeer Husbandry Centre (ICR)
Annual reports to the Storting and grant management
Research and knowledge acquisition
High North affairs and district policy
The government's policy for reconciliation with indigenous peoples and national minorities
Coordination of the government's policy towards Romani/Tater people, Kven/Norwegian Finns, Forest Finns and national minorities in general
The areas of responsibility will be determined in more detail after appointment.
Qualifications 
To qualify for the position you must have 
•    relevant higher education at master's level, for example in social sciences or economics  
•    normally at least 8 years of relevant work experience
•    relevant management experience, preferably from public administration 
•    very good written and oral presentation skills in Norwegian
•    good role understanding  
It is desirable that you have
•    knowledge of Sami politics and/or national minorities
•    work experience from public administration 
•    experience with financial management and state budget work
•    experience with using English in a work context

The position is paid as a department director with a salary range from NOK 1,100,000–1,250,000 per year. Position and salary placement depends on experience and qualifications. For particularly qualified applicants, a higher salary may be considered. A 2% contribution to the State Pension Fund is deducted from the salary.
Authorization/security clearance: You must be authorized/security cleared for access to SECRET information according to the Security Act.
